The 2016 National Budget will be announced on November 6, the Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has confirmed.

As part of the process, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum further confirmed there will be public consultations held soon before the budget is finalised.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum made this announcement during the Stakeholder Consultations on the Draft Income Tax Bill 2015 at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority yesterday.

Three consultations are planned to be held – one in Suva, one in Lautoka and one in Labasa to get views of the people and stakeholders on what they want to see in the 2016 Budget.

“Various advertisements will also be going out regarding receiving written submissions from the public, private sector and NGOs,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Chamber of Commerce will be organising its annual Fiji Business Forum on August 15.

The forum provides an outlet for the business sector to discuss their budget submission as a group for the Government.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed receiving the invite for Government to attend the whole day session and confirmed attendance for the event.
