In the true spirit of charity, the 10 Digicel Bula Festival 2015 contestants have been urged to work like queens to help improve people’s lives.

Festival Media liaison officer Tagi Koroivuki said contestants had been engaged in community outreach programmes from Monday until tomorrow before the festival opens on Saturday.

“It is a great time to give back to the community and portray what real queens should stand for and that is to serve the people,” Ms Koroivuki said.

The contestants are Miss Bula Bus Salaseini Kabakoro, Miss FBC Eleni Matatolu, Miss Nadi Town Council  Shintyall Reddy, Miss Bargain Box Neha Narayan, Miss Yaadein Vision Natasha Prasad, Miss Laser Electric Unaisi Sea, Miss Sharma Music Elenoa Volavola, Miss TKG Handicraft & Media Wave Seasea Misiki, Miss Clyde Acrow Vulatolu Bilitaki and Miss FENC Tokasa Savu.

“They have been participating in a week-long community service programme in an effort to reach communities at grassroots level.

They visited Nadi Hospital on Monday, the Navakai HART home on Tuesday and will be involved in a tree planting programme on Thursday.

“They were delighted to meet and listened to patients at Nadi Hospital on Monday and the residents of Navakai Hart. They donated groceries and basic toiletries and it was a humbling experience for all of them.

“The next two days will be more physical for our contestants because on Wednesday (today) they will be planting 20 trees towards the Nadi-Suva corridor at the town end after the bridge. On Thursday (tomorrow), contestants will be picking up rubbish along Namotomoto Village.”

The contestants will rest on Friday to prepare for Saturday’s opening at Koroivolu Park.
