Big Win For Macuata

What happened:

Macuata ended the 2015 Skipper Cup competition on a high note thrashing Tavua 51 – 15 at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

The Sireli Vesikuru-coached sided was simply too strong.

Macuata wing Rusiate Matasau drew first blood with a try which was not converted. Ilikaya Tukana kicked two penalties while the visitors got their first points through a penalty by Semisi Vauvau.

Minutes before halftime Pita Sadrugu scored a try which was converted.

Halftime:Macuata 15 – 3 Tavua

In the second spell,  Matasau,  captain Romuluse Ratukana, Isoa Waqawai, Filipo Daugunu, Amania  Bulivou, Semi Bale scored tries and a penalty to Tukana.

In the last quarter, Tavua fought back with tries to Bevu Sisa and Semi Bale.

Full time: Macuata 51 – 15. Tavua.

Big play: Ilikaya Tukana contributed well to the win.

Star turn: Macuata were too strong for the visitors.

Comments: Tavua coach Tupa Telawa said: “It was a tough game and we need to go back prepare well for next season.

Macuata Coach Sireli Vesikuru said: “We will  try to build a better team next season.”
