Bonus Win For Naitasiri

What happened:

BLK Naitasiri secured a bonus point after beating Tailevu 31-11 in their 2015 Skipper Cup match in Nausori yesterday.

Naitasiri got off to a good start with a try in the 12th  minute to Mosese Ducivaki and converted by Etonia Rokotuisawa, 7-0.

Tailevu fought hard to gain control and resulted in Jo Navue kicking a penalty, 7-3. In the 26th minute, Naitasiri scored their second try through Temo Raibevu and converted by Rokotuisawa , 14-3.

Naitasiri played with patience and tested the Tailevu defence putting pressure on them. Before half time, Naitasiri got back- to- back tries from winger Nasoni Roko and Isei Ravulo

Halftime: Tailevu 3-26 Naitasiri

Six minutes into the second spell, Navue kicked another penalty to close the gap, 26-6. Naitasiri forced their way over the try line with the score awarded to Aporosa Rasavulu, 31-6. Tailevu came close on a couple of occasions but could not get past the Naitasiri defence.

Tailevu got a consolation try by Orisi Vosuqa ending the game 11-31.

Star turn: Naitasiri’s Nasoni Roko and Isei Ravulo’s try in the first half gave Naitasiri the boost they needed.

Big play:  Naitasiri played a good  round performance.

BLK Naitasiri coach Joji Rinakama said: “Happy with the bonus point win but not happy with the performance.

At this stage in the competition we cannot afford to be undisciplined and make a lot of errors. We need to really go back and work on our game plan and how we tackle each game.”

Tailevu Rugby president Maika Rainima said: “It was a good game, I take my hat off to the boys and the way they performed. Naitasiri was the better team at the end of the day and they came to get a bonus point and succeeded in doing so.

This year has been a learning curve for us and I can say that we will come back stronger and better next year.”
