What happened:

The Timoci Wainiqolo- coached BLK Namosi side secured their spot in the Skipper Cup semifinals after their 39-6 victory over Ovalau at Thomson Park in Navua yesterday.

BLK Namosi drew first blood with a try in the 9th minute to Kelepi Namaka

In the 16th minute Aporosa Gavidi extended their lead with another try and was successfully converted by Kitione Taliga, 0-12.

Three minutes later Namosi wing Waisake Batikadi managed to score a try, 0-17.

Vaione Tagi came in for another try in the 26th minute which was successfully converted by Taliga, 27-0.

Poor defence from Ovalau allowed Namosi Aporosi Gavidi’s to score another try in the 35th minute.

Halftime: Ovalau 0- BLK Namosi 29. Ovalau’s first-five- eighth Niko Volavola  converted two penalties, 6-29.

Ovalau couldn’t get into to the BLK Namosi territory in the 34th minute which caused Joji Ragamate to score a try, 34-0. Batikadi scored the last try for his side in the 42nd minute sealing their win, 39-6.

Star turn: BLK Namosi showed an outstanding performance dominating the game.

Big play: Ovalau’s No.8 Vasini Vueti played well for his team and was awarded the player of the match.

Comments: Ovalau coach Etuate Waqa said “Defence let us down in this game. We couldn’t get through but we are a young team.”

BLK Namosi coach Timoci Wainiqolo said: “The win was very crucial to us and I’m happy with what the boys have achieved today.”
