The National Federation Party is calling on the Government and the Prime Minister to consider a government of national unity.

Party leader Biman Prasad made the call while addressing about 50 to 60 delegates in their small delegate’s annual general meeting at Tamavua Primary School yesterday.

“No matter what the Prime Minister or the FijiFirst Government keeps saying, people in this country are still divided and are still fearful,” Mr Prasad said.

“The Prime Minister said we want to work together, we want an inclusive government and we want to run an inclusive country and because we have some very important national issues which continue to divide the country that needs to be addressed.”

He said a government of national unity was the only way to move ahead decisively, and inclusively.

“The Prime Minister has an opportunity; he could leave a legacy for this country if he decides to move on that front to start dialogue; NFP is ready to participate in any dialogue; any meeting that the Prime Minister calls,” he said.

“NFP doesn’t even want to be in government; if Prime Minister does work towards the forming of a government of national unity, we don’t mind staying in the backbench and supporting the Government between SODELPA and FijiFirst to resolve important issues facing the country.”

SODELPA MP and Opposition Whip Ratu Isoa Tikoca was also at the AGM.
