Samisoni Baikeitoga believes the Coke Zero Deans Under-18 semifinals at Govind Park, Ba would be exciting.

Last year’s runners-up Ratu Kadavulevu School meet Ratu Navula College while defending champions Lelean Memorial School face Marist Brothers High School in the second semifinal.

“If I rate the teams after the quarterfinals, the team to beat is RKS, Marist, Ratu Navula and LMS in that order,” the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union executive said.

“Marist and RKS played well, showed determination and clinical in the set piece play.”

RKS defeated Nasinu Secondary  35-7, Ratu Navula walloped John Wesley College 29-5, Marist defeated QVS 12-5 and LMS defeated newcomers Cuvu College 19-3 in the fourth quarterfinal.

“LMS got a good pack as they were countering Cuvu in all phases. The Nadroga school made a wrong option by playing upfront.

“For the two Eastern Zone schools, RKS got the upper-hand as they play structured game and were patient in defence,” he said.

Bakeitoga is also anticipating a tough competition from Marist Brothers.

“Marist was really impressive with their forwards and backline, but there was a little show from Ratu Navula.”

MBHS manager Lekima Nasau said more work needed to be done.

“We thank QVS for a good game,” he said.

“We still have a lot of areas to work on. We want to thank our parents and old boys for their support.”

Ratu Navula College principal Setareki Merekula rates RKS in the semis.

“Good game against John Wesley, but it will be a different story against RKS,” Merekula said.

“They got the material and potential.”

Meanwhile, defending champions LMS hopes to better their performance and come out strong against Marist.

“We take one game at a time. We will go back and improve on our weaknesses. Marist is an unbeaten team and we respect them,” manager William Balenamoli said.
