4R Electric Ba secured their first win of the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants after beating Gecko’s Trucking Nadroga 1-0 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Both teams started with Ba going on the attack pressuring the Nadroga defence early in the game.

With Ba dominating most of the first-half, they failed to capitalise with shots at goal way off the mark.

Halftime: Ba 0-0 Nadroga

Nadroga came back with guns blazing in the second spell applying pressure on Ba.

Nadroga’s Shalvin Singh showed pace and orchestrated some good plays but none good enough to produce a goal.

Ba seemed to mellow down but Samuela Nabenia changed that in the 58th minute with a perfect cross to Malakai Tiwa.

Nadroga struggled to find an opening to equalise but lack of control allowed Ba to shut them down. As the clock counted down neither teams managed a score ending in Ba’s favour.

Star turn:Ba’s Samuela Nabenia’s contributed for Tiwa to break the deadlock.

Big play: Nadroga played well to keep the Ba attackers at bay but they failed to capitalise on numerous opportunities to equalise.

Comments:

Nadroga’s coach Ramesh Sharma, “I think it was a very good and close game and we still need to work on our finishing. But overall I’m happy with the performance and just disappointed with the result.”

4R Electric Ba secretary Iliyaz Khan, “We learned from our game against Rewa and I’m  happy with our performance.”
