The Fiji Secondary Schools Football Association received $25,000 from Vodafone yesterday.

The donation is to fund the Vodafone Secondary Schools Football Championship to be held on August 17-20 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Vodafone sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said they were proud to assist in the development of football in the country.

“Through our assistance, we will be facilitating their training and development programmes,”Vakarau said.

“We know what the Vodafone Fijian U20 and U23 players have achieved.

“They were the first ever Fiji team to qualify to the 2015 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics.

FSSFA secretary Aminesh Ram praised the assistance.

“This is a huge boost,” Ram said.

Vodafone Secondary Schools Football Championships:

Pool A:
Nabua Secondary, Pundit Shreedhar Maharaj College, Natabua High, Vivekananda Technical Centre.

Pool B:
Rampur College, LDS, Drasa Secondary, Kalim Muslim.

Pool C:
Saraswati College, Swami Vivekananda College, Kavanagasau College, Xavier College.

Pool D:
Vashit Muni, Nadi Muslim, Sigatoka Methodist, Nukuloa College.
