Final Plan

John McKee wants the Vodafone Flying Fijians to exert more pressure on Samoa in the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup final in Vancouver tomorrow.

Head coach McKee said the Fijians gave Samoa more space in the 30-30 tie in Toronto last month.

“The players came through well after an intensive session and they are gelling very well,” McKee said.

“The understanding is getting better and better and we need to put Samoa under more pressure.

“In the last game, we allowed their big ball carriers to crack the defensive line and get too much go forward.

“More of the same will be expected from Samoa. They will play a very physical game and target to break us down with hard running. They also have a strong maul from lineouts.

“We have a plan and are ready to match up.”

He said it was almost likely that Josh Matavesi will be at first-five after his man- of- the- match performance against Japan in Toronto.

The side had a gym session yesterday and will be having their captain’s run today.

The Vodafone Flying Fijians play Samoa at 12pm (Fiji time) tomorrow at Swanguard Stadium, Burnaby.
