Josaia Wini departed for France to join the Stade Francais Rugby Club academy.

The former Vodafone 7s player, who turned 21 last month, was farewelled by his family and friends at the Nadi International Airport.

“I will definitely miss my family, especially my mother Mereani Suwalu and father Tevita Suwalu who have supported me all the way.

“I am so happy to have this contract for one year which is renewal based upon my performance.

“I can now help my brother and three sisters.

“I’ve been abroad with the Vodafone Fijian 7s team but I’m looking forward to this trip.

“My goal is to play for the top 14 in France and I wish to thank my Epeli Lagiloa and  Naitasiri coach Reverend Joji Ranakama as they have been pushing me all the time.”

Lagiloa was proud of Wini’s achievement so far.

“His contract is handled by former national captain Simon Raiwalu. He will be joining the academy and will attend a university there on a course of his choice.”
