BSP Group To Take BSP Life Products To The Region

Bank South Pacific (BSP) is looking to enhance the bank’s insurance arm by taking BSP Life products into the region. BSP Group chief executive Robin Fleming highlighted this during the Regional Managers press conference yesterday.

Mr Fleming said: “In the next short to medium term, we will be looking at taking BSP Life products into the region and BSP finance products also into the region.

“That is a whole range of financial services for the region and we also want to ensure that our values continue to be bought into by our staff and the value of communities.”

BSP Life has had the vision to extend the company into the region in the pipeline.

BSP Life managing director Malakai Naiyaga said: “We have always had the strategic intent to get to offer our products to the region. In addition to the number of countries BSP offer services to, this to us is a stronger positions to understand those market and offer them products in health insurance in those markets.”

 

Acquisitions

As of July 10, BSP finalised its transactions with Australia’s Westpac groups operations and became the new owners of Westpac businesses in Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga. This adds on to BSP’s existing businesses in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji.

Mr Fleming explained: “It was timely for a number of prospective because we are now starting our planning cycle of operational expenditure plan and our strategic objectives plans.

“Therefore, the opportunity was taken to get all the non-PNG business to start that planning cycle here in Fiji.”

All the regional managers have been in Fiji carrying out dialogues for past two days.

These discussions were led by chief financial officer from PNG Johnson Kalo and general manager Retail from PNG Paul Thornton.
