FINTEL Poised To Connect Samoa To Southern Cross Cable

Amalgamated Telecom Holdings (ATH) subsidiary, FINTEL, is now poised to also connect Samoa to the Southern Cross Cable Network.
This will follow on from the earlier connecting of Tonga and Vanuatu to the network.
ATH chairman, Ajith Kodagoda, confirmed this in the group’s annual report released this week.
Mr Kodagoda said it’s also positive about adding an additional submarine fiber link for New Caledonia.
Trends
In line with the growth trends, he said they envisage even greater uptake of data driven through the phenomenal demand for Smartphone and over-the-top applications.
“Another key trend is the growth of audio and video streaming among Smartphone users,” he said.
“This growth trend will be well served by the improvements to current infrastructure and increasing bandwidth availability on the Southern Cross Cable.”
