Davendra Singh and his family are happy to be part of Government’s development project.

The Government provided $43,360 to upgrade the Dharbar Access Road for Davendra Singh and his family.

Singh’s family are the biggest suppliers of pineapple in the Southern Division, according to the Koronivia assistant district officer, Savenaca Tuidrokadroka. He said: “The Dharbar Access Road was a project under the Non-Cane Access Road (NCAR).

“They have been supplying their pineapples to markets. The road was already there, but the Government upgraded to road to provide for better transportation,” he said.

Pineapple farmer Singh said: “The upgrading of the road by Government has benefited me a lot. Before, it was difficult to transport my products to the market but after the road was upgraded by Government, it’s easy for me to transport my products now.

The road is named after Mr Singh’s father, Dharbar.

The project started in 2014 and it was completed in June this year.
