Sigatoka murder accused Hem Ravnit Singh has been given time to apply for bail formally within 21 days.

This is after he appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court in Lautoka with his lawyer.

His lawyer has sought time from the High Court to serve information.

Justice Rajasinghe has approved this request for time and given until August 17 as the next date for appearance.

Singh is charged with murder in relation to the death of his wife Saleshni Lata, 29, of Tagitagi settlement in Sigatoka.

He was detained after his wife’s partly burned and decomposing body was discovered by a group of pig hunters in early July.

After his bail application, the court will now decide whether his bail will be granted or rejected.

Singh has been remanded until August 17.
