Damodar Event Cinemas became the official ticket sellers for the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival after a partnership agreement was signed yesterday.

Damodar chief executive officer Divyesh Damodar signed the agreement with the Hibiscus Events Group Inc (HEGI) chairman Hirdesh Prasad at Damodar City Cinemas.

This is part of the lead-up to the highly anticipated social event that will be held at the Suva Foreshore August 15 to 22.

Mr Damodar said he was proud to be associated with the event as it was a powerful platform for young people.

“Hibiscus is an event which has been growing and growing and I think there are corporate companies waiting on the sideline. I think they should be involved in it, monetary or non-monetary because you’re helping the youth here, you’re taking our youth to another level,” he said. “In order to grow our nation and in order to grow business, you have to invest in the youth and that’s one strong message I will send out, look, come on board. It’s a great event.”

Mr Prasad said the strengthened relationship with Damodar Brothers would help build a bigger event as tickets would be more accessible.

“This is true corporate responsibility by assisting the Hibiscus Festival in monitoring tickets for transparency and accountability as they have done in the past,” he said.

With the festival taking place at the Suva Foreshore, Mr Prasad said set-up at the grounds would be different.

“We have a lot of people coming on board with different programmes. We have two groups coming from overseas and an international singer that is coming to perform at the festival.”

Tickets to the Hibiscus events would be sold at the Damodar City Cinemas, Village Six and during the festival week at the Suva Foreshore.
