Grasp Learning Opportunities, Students Urged

Various high school students in the West flocked to Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday for the USP Open Day. It was hosted by the Lautoka Campus.

The chief guest was the Commissioner Western, Manasa Tagicakibau.

He urged students to grasp the learning opportunities available in the event.

“The University of the South Pacific, through its Lautoka Campus, plays a key role in the development of the western part of Fiji,” Mr Tagicakibau said.

He said many former students now hold key positions in the private and public sectors.

“Those who do not meet the mark requirement can now choose to do preliminary studies. This is in line with the Government of Fiji’s education policy and its aim to create a knowledgeable society.

“The upcoming developments in Lautoka now bring a need for qualified, trained and highly skilled personnel.”

Mr Tagicakibau commended USP for bringing education services to those at grassroots level and keeping its commitment to deliver flexible learning to other students in the South Pacific.
