Minister for Health and Medical Services Jone Usamate promises to prioritise the provision of good living conditions for health workers in the North.

He revealed this after identifying 16 quarters in the division that need urgent repairs.

Mr Usamate is visiting health centres, nursing stations, sub-divisional and divisional hospitals in the North this week.

“We are hoping to liaise with the part of Government responsible to see these quarters could be fixed,” Mr Usamate said.

He said a lot of people faced difficulties when they are posted out to work in facilities in bad conditions.

“We need to try hard as possible to try and make sure that facilities our staff work in, or live in, are good.”

Mr Usamate said when the facilities were in good conditions, health workers could provide better services.

“There is also a challenge of resources. There is not enough money for everything we want to do, but keeping people in good places to leave in is something that will help them to do their job better.”

Mr Usamate meanwhile, visited TISI Sangam Nursing School and the Nabouwalu Sub-Divisional Hospital.
