Usamate to Probe North Shortage

The Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate will investigate medicine shortage in the North. He revealed this while touring health centres and hospitals in the division this week.

The Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate will investigate medicine shortage in the North.

He revealed this while touring health centres and hospitals in the division this week.

He said he had noticed that medication had been a problem faced by some health centres in Vanua Levu.

“It is an issue that I have noticed so far and it is something that I have to go back and talk to my pharmacy people and divisional hospitals on how we can make sure that medicine needed to be made available are made available,” Mr Usamate said.

He said during the tour, people had been complaining about shortage of medicine.

“We have visited health centres. We have asked people if they face shortage of medicine. There are alot of talk about shortage of medicine.”

Mr Usamate said facts and figures to determine the need and amount of medicine and health care supply could be collected during tours around the country.

Mr Usamate visited Nabouwalu Sub-Divisional Hospital and Wainunu Health Centre yesterday.

He will be the chief guest today at the Naivaka Day at Naivaka Village in Bua.
