Ravnil Rinesh Kumar  retained his title after winning the 2015 Island Chill Suva Marathon with a time of 2:59.13 hours in the Full Marathon category.

More than 900 runners took part in seven categories which was a record number as this is the second year Kumar has been running in the marathon.

The 20-year-old from Nadi came to the marathon with a goal in mind, which was to run the marathon in less than three hours.

“This is my second year in the marathon and my second time winning the full marathon category and I am very happy,” Kumar said.

“The competition this year has been really tough and so many people took part but my main goal coming here was to run this marathon in under three hours.

“I achieved my goal and I am really satisfied with my time. I have such a huge passion in running and thanks to my parents who got me this far.

“I thank my sponsor Selva Nadan of Silver Tours and also Life Runners.”

Kumar won the silver medal last year in the Oceania Cross Country Championship in Guam and is the defending champion in the Olympic Day Fun Run.
