The Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee has included veterans Jerry Yanuyanutawa and Seremaia Bai in Rugby World Cup 2015 preliminary squad who will march into camp on Wednesday in Suva.

Also included in the squad are local players Jale Sassen and Savenaca Tabakanalagi.

“I am quite happy with the team we had for the Pacific Nations Cup but now our focus is on the Rugby World Cup,” McKee said.

“We need to be fully prepared and the players who went to the PNC have yet to have their medical screening.

“It is important that all players are put through a medical and fitness test before we name our final squad, to ensure those selected are 100 per cent ready to go.”

He said Nemani Nadolo notably returns to the group following an injury he sustained against the Maori All Blacks. “Reports from medical staff in Christchurch indicate he has recovered and our medical staff will screen him as well on Thursday.

“The training camp will focus on re-conditioning fitness-wise and further developing our game plan from the 2015 PNC.”

McKee, who is currently in Australia, had watched the Wallabies defeat New Zealand 27-19 to claim the Rugby Championship.

“Australia were very impressive and performed really well against the All Blacks, they are in good form and will be a tough challenge,” he said.

“Because of this, we cannot leave any stone unturned and need to step up our game and preparation for the World Cup especially when we have only a couple of weeks to prepare.”

McKee said it will be a hard camp and he expects to see the benefits when the Vodafone Flying Fijians team hits RWC2015 next month.
