Dr Vikash Singh remained as the president of the Fiji Dental Association (FDA) following their annual general meeting (AGM) last Saturday.

It was held at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji on Denarau Island, Nadi.

“This is something I have been doing for the past few years so I guess it is a continuation of the work we have been doing.

“Members feel comfortable with the way we are running the association so it is an endorsement from the members to continue,” Dr Singh said.

The focus is to improve oral health in Fiji.

“We need to work with stakeholders whose focus is towards improving oral health in the country.

“If we do that then we are serving our function as a professional body that represents dentists.”

The association, meanwhile, has reduced its membership fee by 35 per cent to attract more members.

Dr Singh advised members of the public to have regular dental check-ups.

“Undertake good oral hygiene practices in order to avoid oral health problems because a lot of dental problems are preventable.

“A penny for prevention is far better than a pound of cure,” Dr Singh said.
