With aims to take tourism to greater heights in our tourism capital, a new body will be launched this Friday under the name of Nadi Town Tourism Council.

Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) President Dr Ram Raju said: “We have just started the process for the formation of Nadi Town Tourism Council.”

He said the objective is to improve the tourism sectors in Nadi Town with the stakeholders meeting scheduled for today.

“It’s a good idea to meet and draw up plans and submissions at this stage of developments,” he said.

“NCCI had made an announcement earlier on this subject since the public consultation process was announced and being carried out in various areas.

“There’ll be a private consultative meeting in due course when we hope to make our submissions.”

Dr Raju highlighted the whole of Nadi Back Road is already earmarked to be included in the Nadi Town Boundary Expansion Plans into a City status.

He said this is likely to eventuate in the near future.

Budget submission

On the submissions towards the National Budget, the chamber hopes to receive feedback from members so that a document is drafted judiciously keeping in mind everyone’s interests (and that of the Nation).

“Members need not wait for a call for submissions but start preparing now and have them mailed to our office,” Dr Raju said.

“We have successfully launched Nadi Sports Council (NSC) and I’m hoping both these councils, with various agendas, will bring in more fruitful developments including national budget submission.”

The Fiji Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Fiji Business Forum in Suva on Saturday with anticipated participation from all the chambers around the country.

The forum will discuss the 2016 National Budget Submission to be put across to the Government as one comprehensive document.

Meanwhile, Dr Raju confirmed the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also organise another Business Forum on September 12 with the theme “Nadi Business Update”.
