Residents of Waikerekere Settlement outside Lami Town now have access to clean water, thanks to Government.

About 200 people live in the settlement.

They were supplied with water tanks last week to help in their daily needs.

“The initial water source for Waikerekere is a water dam,” Rewa Provincial administrator Josevata Suka said.

“The dam, since it was built, has been using galvanised pipes and they are rusty. Last year the spokesman for Waikerekere, the district advisory councilor and district officer Suva sought assistance from Government with regards to supply of clean water.

“We are thankful to the Prime Minister’s Officer for allocating $8013 to buy 10 tanks which can hold 5300 litres of water each.”

The tanks were distributed among the 22 households.
