Road To Repentance

Time is a great healer. It certainly is for the politician who seems to have seen the error of his ways in his liaison with a doctor. Coconut Wireless has also helped trigger his conscience.

Communication lines have reopened between him and his family and attempts have been made by him to make up for lost time. He is certainly on the road to repentance.

Worst kept secret

It’s finally out. The Opposition Office is upset by what it calls unauthorised media releases from the SODELPA HQ. specifically to the Fiji Sun.

The Ro Teimumu/Mick Beddoes-run office still apparently thinks the “ban” on this newspaper is still on.

In fact its allies want to get on with the serious business of drawing up a strategic plan for the 2018 general election.

The bad blood between the Opposition Office and SODELPA HQ is a worst kept secret. SODELPA HQ has put things back on the right track and with proper perspective through a media release in the Fiji Sun yesterday..

United Front?

We are hearing a rumbling in the distance. It’s getting louder and louder. Yet, Felix Anthony denies he knows anything about it.

The Fiji Trades Union Congress general secretary called talk of a move for trade unions to form a united front as “crap”. He said: “Whoever is giving you people this information is taking you for a ride.”

A united front is the logical way to go for a badly fragmented trade union movement if they want to put up a credible fight against the Government over the newly-enacted Employment Relations Promulgation Amendment Act 2015.

Mr Anthony should have learned this principle in the last general election when his People’s Democratic Party failed to win a seat.

Niko literary travels

So as Niko Nawaikula writes so eloquently on Facebook, oh well not so eloquently, there is “another native delegation to New York to attend the UN World Indigenous Day in New York”.

The team of three – which includes two who long left this country – are funded by some so called Democracy and Freedom for Fiji Movement people.

Niko also informs people that this trip means he will not be in Australia. Such sacrifices he has had to make. Sigh.

Objectionable

We really do have a lot of bush lawyers around. The smart one who is screaming out for an acting position to be filled, a vacancy needs be advertised, should be asked just what she specialises in.
