Koya, Akbar for PM India Trip

Cabinet Ministers Faiyaz Koya, the Minister for Industry Trade and Tourism, and Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar will accompany Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to India next week.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Luke Daunivalu, who will also be part of the delegation, confirmed.
He said the delegation would include the Prime Minister’s Office Permanent Secretary, Naipote Katonitabua, Mary Bainimarama, the PM’s wife, and Isireli Tagivakatini.
Mr Koya said he would have bilateral meetings in India regarding tourism and trade.
The Economic Times in India said in the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he would announce 10 areas including energy and infrastructure where Delhi would extend assistance to these countries.
It said the leaders would also be introduced to few Indian business honchos keen to explore business opportunities.
The Times of India, on Wednesday, reported that 10 out of 14 countries would be represented at the level of Heads of State or governments while the remaining four would be represented at the level of foreign ministers and special envoys and senior officials.
This will be the second meeting after the one held in Fiji last year as part of India’s efforts to build ties with countries of these region.
The summit is scheduled for August 21 – 22 at Jaipur.
