Government is expected to very soon start the digitisation of the Titles Office.

The Minister for Finance and Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, confirmed this yesterday during the Fiji Business Forum.

“We are told that if we employ 60 to 80 people, and have them working at three shifts on 24/7 basis, we can complete the digitalisation by November or December this year,” he said.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the software has already been developed.

He added: “But at the same time, we have this digitalisation which is certainly important because some of the titles go back to 1864 and are basically falling apart.

“So we need to ensure that we maintain the integrity of the documents and have them digitalised and be able to get you to sit in your offices next year and do title searches.”
