Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) troops serving under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in Syria arrived at the Nadi International early yesterday morning.

Families and friends packed the Nadi International Airport to welcome the 137 military personnel.

They were welcomed in Nadi by the RFMF Land Force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho.

Some of those who arrived yesterday were part of the the 45 Fijian troops who were held captive by al-Qaeda linked Syrian rebel group on August 28, 2014.

They were released two weeks later unharmed.

Today, outbound troops are expected to depart Nadi at 11am for Tel Aviv.
