The Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana was at Nadi International Airport yesterday to greet the Fijian Pearls.

“The Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has made a commitment to farewell and receive all national teams participating at international events despite their results or achievement.

“We welcome you home and I would like to extend to you all the nation’s hearty congratulations for your performance at the world championship despite the results,” he said.

“I know that you are little disappointed with your results, however, learn from your recent experience and move on to improve Fiji’s ranking and I believe like every other Fijians that you can do it,” Delana said.

Delana also assured the team and its management that government will continue to provide timely assistance when and where necessary.

Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau said it was indeed a disappointed outing for everyone.

“We have indeed learnt a lot and we will certainly move forward from here. We will retain the core of this team as they can only develop from here and move forward,” Bogidrau said.

Fijian Pearls captain Mere Rabuka thanked Delana and the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports for welcoming them back home yesterday evening.
