The flag flying at Vatanitawake in Cuvu, Nadroga, has been removed.

The Turaga Na Ka Levu, Ratu Kinijoji Vosailagi, has thanked the Fiji Police Force for the removal of the rebel flag at the late Ratu Osea Gavidi’s residence in Cuvu village, Nadroga, yesteday.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun from the village yesterday, spokesperson Ratu Tevita Makutu said the Turaga Na Ka Levu was happy when told the flag had been removed.

He said he was responsible in telling the Gavidi family to remove the flag but the response was always negative.

The late Ratu Osea Gavidi raised the flag after claiming that a Christian State had been formed in Nadroga.

The flag, Ratu Tevita said, had caused division in the village.

According to Ratu Tevita, Police rounded up the supporters of the flag.

He reaffirmed the Turaga Na Ka Levu’s support to the Government and had disassociated himself and the province from the rebel group.

The Nadroga/Navosa chief, according to Ratu Tevita, was happy that the so-called rebels in Nadroga had been charged.
