Alleged Nasinu Rapist Wanted For Other Cases

Meni Raitekiteki, 20, who was charged for allegedly raping a 74-year-old woman in Nasinu, was also wanted for a series of break-ins and robberies.

Police prosecutor Subramani Naidu told Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Nasinu Magistrates Court that Raitekiteki was wanted by the Nasinu and Nakasi Police.

The alleged rapist had been remanded in custody at the Nasinu Police Station pending further investigations.  The accused is also charged for a count of giving false information to Police, one count of burglary and one count of theft.

The court heard that the alleged incidents happened on August 18.

Charges were read and understood by the accused.

 

Name suppression

Prosecutor Naidu made an application for name suppression for the victim which was granted by the court. The accused has been remanded in custody for seven days pending further investigations by the Nasinu and the Nakasi Police stations.

The matter will be called for mention on August 28 where the Police prosecution would be making an application for the matter to be transferred to the High Court and the file to be sent to DPP for a review of the charges.
