Headquarters One won the Fiji Police Women Inter-formation volleyball tournament at the Police Special Response Unit ground in Nasinu yesterday.

The team, which included national reps Teresia Vocevoce, Mereoni Nawaibau and former rep Salote Vuniwaqa, defeated Southern One 3-2.

The two-day tournament was held to select the team for the 2015 ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl tournament on September 14-18.

HQ One captain Vocevoce said their aim was to defend their title again.

“We now have a very strong team and we’re confident of defending our title again next month,” Vocevoce said.

HQ One defeated HQ Two 2-0 in the semifinal while Southern One defeated Southern Two 2-0 in the semifinal.

In the netball competition, Fijian Pearls rep Alesi Waqa led Southern One to victory defeating Northern 12-10 in the final. Fiji Police Women Inter-formation chairperson Superintendent Vilisi Misiamete was impressed with the level of competition this year.

“I’m grateful to all the participating teams who lifted the competition to another level,” she said.

The Police women are the defending champions for the Ratu Sukuna Bowl volleyball and netball tournaments.
