Koro’s First Win

The Koro Under-14 team secured their first ever win in the Premier finals of the 2015 Lewa Sewa Netters Inter-District Championship (IDC) in Suva yesterday.

Koro edged Cakau East 11-10 claiming the title and coach Nemia Ravatu said this was an unexpected but a well-deserved win for them.

“This is the first we have won the Premier category in the U14 grade and we are just really excited and lost for words,” Ravatu said.

“It was a shame we could not make it into the Super category finals but winning this is a real honour and something for us to take back home to Koro.”

Ravatu said this win would motivate them to step up the development process in Koro and breed more good netters for such competitions.

“Back in Koro we don’t have club competitions such as this. So for us winning will really push the need for us to develop netball back home.

“We may not have the proper facilities and relevant competition but we know we have talent in our netters.”

With the competition getting tough every year, Ravatu said they would not be where they are if it was not for the tremendous support.

“We would not been here without the support from the teachers, parents and also the players themselves.

“So this win is really something we can give back to the parents and to Koro and also to the hard work of the players.”
