Joseph Abourizk and Josese Muriwaqa charged with a count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs took their plea at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

Both were represented by different lawyers and both had pleaded not guilty to their charges.

The charges of the two were read out in court before judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.

Both were charged for being in possession of 49.9 kilograms of drugs believed to be cocaine in Lautoka on July 13.

Muriwaqa’s lawyer Aman Singh said that they were trying to speed it up and take this matter for trial just like the Ethan Kai drug case.

The two have been remanded in custody and will be called for mention on August 31.
