A lot of times leaders focus on making profits and fail at being a true leader, says Alison Mooney, a professional speaker on Customer Service, Motivational and Inspiration.

Ms Mooney explained many leaders are engaged in productivity but don’t understand the journey to there.

She was speaking during the 2015 CPA Australia-Fiji Branch Congress at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau Island yesterday.

“So often we don’t understand and focus more on making profits. We fail to see if they don’t serve their people and make them happy,” she said.

She said the best way to eliminate weakness in a business is through understanding the personality of employees.

“When you identify this personality on your team then as a leader you know how to bring out the best,” Ms Mooney said.

“A lot of leaders have no idea they lead from their view on the world and they fail to see that this person needs something else.”

She explained when these situations are taken into family and marriage lives, they become an issue.

Leadership

She explained the key issue is respect!

“People need to learn to respect the people you lead and people that see the world from a different view,” Ms Mooney said.

“When we talk about leadership, a lot of leaders lead in a style.

“And if you are a strategic leader, you might have inspirational people working for you.

“And those people, don’t want to be led in a strategic perspective but through an inspirational perspective.”

She said that is when you need to lead to identify who is working on your team and tapping into those strengths. That is when you have a happy working environment.”

About Alison Mooney

Mrs Mooney has written a book called ‘Pressing the Right Buttons’. The book is about helping understand the different forms of personality.

“I help people discover who they are and in Business we hire amazing talent only to find they aren’t getting along with working with people,” she said.

“A lot of time we work with people that don’t see the whole like we see it. So often productivity decreases because we don’t get along.”
