The $100 million drug bust case is likely to be consolidated with another matter which is before the High Court in Lautoka.

Nadi businessman Praneel Chandran Reddy, 36, who was charged with one count of importing illicit drugs namely amphetamine, appeared before judge Justice Priyantha Fernando at the High Court in Suva yesterday.

It was alleged that the accused unlawfully imported parcels containing amphetamine weighing 79.3kg said to be worth $100m.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Michael Delany for State has requested this case be consolidated with the files of Sosiceni Toa Jr, who was also a suspect in the case and has been charged with the unlawful transfer and supply of illicit drugs namely methamphetamines which weighed 21.43kg.

Junior’s case is being heard at the High Court in Lautoka.

The court was told that the accused in these matters, Junior and Reddy, were likely to have a connection with the importing of the illicit drugs.

Justice Fernando has given time for the State to look into both files.

Meanwhile Reddy’s lawyer Babu Singh made a bail application and the State has been given time to respond to the application.

Reddy has been remanded in custody and will reappear on Thursday next week.
