Labasa/Savusavu special administrator Vijay Chand has rallied the support of northern business houses during the opening the 2015 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park, Labasa yesterday.

Mr Chand said many major businesshouses in Labasa did not fully support the festival which was designed to benefit the people of the North.

“Over the years that I have been here, I have noticed very responsible corporate companies and institutions do not render support by providing sponsorship of the queens for the festival,” he said.

Mr Chand said he believed every individual had a role to play in ‘Building a Better North’.

“I am convinced by the organisers of the festival and would like to place on record their contribution towards making a difference in lives of so many ordinary and disadvantaged people.”

Mr Chand said many successful projects in the North have been achieved through dedication, sacrifice and hardwork of the festival committee.

“The latest major project was the new Northern Dalysis Centre at a cost of more than $250,000 at the Labasa Hospital.”

Meanwhile this year several projects have been earmarked for funding through the proceeds of the festival.
