Vodafone Flying Fijians skipper Akapusi ‘Q’ Qera calls on the nation’s support as the team prepares for the 2015 Rugby World Cup next month.

With Fiji being grouped in a ‘Pool of Death’ alongside hosts England, Wales, Australia and Uruguay, Qera is confident of a positive outcome.

“It’s a tough pool and we just need the nation’s support and prayers,” Qera said.

“We know playing against England in England so as Wales, Australia and Uruguay is not easy but we are looking forward to it.”

Qera commonly known as ‘Q’ said the catch-word for the team during RWC campaign was brotherhood.

“We sat together on the first day and there was one word that everyone came up with and that was brotherhood.

“Everyone to die for and work for each other and that’s what has been pushing us in the past weeks.”

It will be a humbling experience for the Tubou, Lakeba, Lau native as he will captain in the Rugby World Cup the Flying Fijians for the first time.

“To be named captain was a very humbling experience for me,” he said. “Being a captain during the Pacific Nations Cup was different because of the level of competition. And to lead the team to RWC is special for me and my family, I’m excited for this call.”

Captain ‘Q’ described the scene at Grand Pacific Hotel last Friday before the players break camp at midday.

“Before the announcement of the team most players left the camp thinking that they might not come back. But some of them will still be celebrating with their families and they deserved it.”

The team returns to camp tomorrow.
