Newcomers Enjoy Day

The Narere Buses-sponsored three-player snooker tournament attracted 15 teams at the Nausori Club yesterday.
And among them for the first time was 21-year-old Ale Volavola and 12-year-old Apisalome Sikaidoka.
The event, which was organised by the Southern Division Billiard and Snooker Association, is the first of its kind where it brought first-time players into the competition and pairing them up with the top-ranked players in Fiji.
Volavola, who hails from Nabalebale Village in Vanua Levu, said taking part in the tournament had fuelled her passion to play snooker.
“This is my first time playing snooker,” Volavola said.
“I have learned a lot just by being here learning from the men and watching them.
“I have learned how to hide the white ball and also to hook a ball.
“This has been a huge learning experience for me and I really want to learn to play this game and make it more than just a hobby.
“I am definitely telling my friends and family about this game and hopefully I can get them to join me in playing.”
Sikaidoka, who comes from Nausori Village, also enjoyed the day.
“It is really fun. I’m learning a lot and even though I play and love rugby,” he said.
