Punjas and Digicel Fiji have once again come on board to sponsor the 2015 National Netball championship which will start in Suva on Friday.

The two companies contributed more than $35,000 in cash and kind for the two – day championship.

This is the second successive year for the joint sponsorship of the Punjas Digicel National championships which will attract the largest local female participation in the sport in the country.

Punjas Group general manager AVS Subrahmanyam was delighted to be part of the sponsorship.

“Women play multiple and essential roles in any family.

“By assisting these bright, enthusiastic and young woman netball players, we are seeking to promote awareness for health and strength among women,” Subrahmanyam said.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Darren McLean was excited with the sponsorship.

“I am thrilled that we can continue to support Fiji Netball. This is part of our three-year sponsorship which also includes the super league and the international series,” he said.

Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau acknowledged the support and looked forward to a successful two-day tournament.

“We would like to thank Punjas and Digicel for their continued support in both cash and kind for our local and international competitions and I am sure our local teams will play great netball this weekend,” she said.

Bogidrau also confirmed three new teams from Vanua Levu will now join the competition and they are Savusavu, Taveuni and Wainikeli. Also making a return to this championship will be teams from Ra, Nanukuloa and Northland after missing out last year.

Another feature of the two day tournament will be the inclusion of the Fiji Secondary Schools team in the U19 division.

The Punjas Digicel National Netball championship will be held at the National Netball centre from 8am this Friday.
