Newcomers Swami Vivekananda College and Natabua High School created upsets in Day Two of the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball championship at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.

The SVC Under 17 boys upset Yat Sen Secondary School 29-27 while the sugar city based side Natabua High School U19 girls defeated defending champions Yat Sen Secondary School 18-10.

SVC head coach Pita Waqatairewa was impressed with the games outcome.

“We started playing the sport through the Hoops for Health programme this year and watching our boys performance today (yesterday) I’m really impressed with their performance, they gave their best,” Waqatairewa said.

Games continue at the Vodafone Arena today.

  • U17 boys; QVS 25-17 SGS, SVC 29-27 YSS, SJC 25-13 GHS, LDS 30-6 SVC,
  • U19 girls; NHS 18-10 YSS, nhs 34-8SVC, SGS 23-20 YSS, SJC WBD over JWC, ACS 20-11 Jasper,CSS 20-8 jnc, SJSS 24-18 LDS
  • U19 boys; MBHS 36-SVC 13, LDS 22-18 NHS,
