‘Vanua O Ba’ Festival Confirmed

The Ba Provincial Holdings Company Limited (BPHCL) is hosting its new festival, Vanua O Ba, next month.
BPHCL marketing manager Jese Saukuru said the festival would be held at Nadovu Park, Lautoka, from September 9-11.
“It’s official. We have the permit from Police and it will definitely be held,” Mr Saukuru said.
“The Ba Provincial Holdings Company is facilitating, but the actual programme is for the Bose Ni Momo Ni Yasana o Ba.”
He said the objective was to raise money for the Bose Ni Momo Ni Yasana o Ba Secretariat located in the Rogorogoivuda House in Lautoka.
“This is not a political event, it is purely for the development of the province. We are moving away from the 21 tikina concept and going according to the Bose Ni Momo structure for the 24 matanivanua.”
He said the festival would host the Ba Provincial Council Youths and Soqosoqo Vakamarama.
It opens with a march from Lautoka City to Nadovu Park where festivities will take place.
“Traditionally we have the Adi Salusalu Festival but this Vanua O Ba Festival is purely for the Bose Ni Momo Ni Yasana o Ba Secretariat to buy more shares.”
He said there would be dance performances, pledge of contributions and soli.
He urged members of the Ba Province to turn up in big numbers to support the three-day event.
