The Australian and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) announced yesterday they would provide financial support of $30,000 to the Pacific Island Development Forum’s (PIDF) third summit as exclusive banking sponsor.

The forum will be held next week in Suva and leaders from the Pacific Island countries will discuss critical issues on sustainable development for the people of the Pacific, on the theme “Building Climate Resilient Green, Blue Pacific Economies.”

The bank’s head of emerging corporate Pacific and Fiji, Saud Minam said: “This is the second year in a row we have support this good course as ANZ bank has been part of the Pacific communities for last 135 years.

“We always felt that there is great opportunity for us to be building the communities and becoming the part of the public sector and private sector together.”

Pacific Island Development Forum interim secretary general Amena Yauvoli said: “On the behalf of PIDF I would like convey our sincere appreciation to ANZ for their continuous support towards the summit.

“The summit started two years ago and with ANZ continuing its support I am confident that as Mr Minam said “being in the Pacific for 135” your foot print is well established in the Pacific,” he said.

The forum will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva from September 1 to 4.
