Police Wives Compete In Labasa Tourney

The Fiji Police Wives Headquarters team aim to retain their title in the National Fiji Police Wives Volleyball and Netball tournament.
The two-day event started yesterday at Holy Family Primary School in Labasa.
Team captain Salote Vuniwaqa said last year their team won the volleyball Grade B division and this year they aimed to scoop the A and B grades.
“We have been preparing since April and we want nothing less than a win,” Vuniwaqa said.
The team has 35 players.
“The competition would be tough because other teams have equally prepared well.”
Lautoka Volleyball team is the defending champion in the A Grade.
Their manager, Salote Talala said they would work hard to retain their title.
“We do not have a big team like headquarters, but we have come with good spirit and confidence to win the A Grade volleyball competition,” Talala said.
Fiji Police Force Wives president Silina Tudravu said 39 teams were part of the tournament.
“Teams are from four main divisions, the Fiji Police Force Headquarters and the Police Special Reaction Unit (PSRU),” she said.
The volleyball tournament is played in two divisions. There are 18 teams in A Grade and 21 in B Grade.
“This tournament is not only about competition, but it is about bringing police wives together.”
The tournament ends with an award giving ceremony at Labasa Police Station tonight.
