A Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) parliamentarian and lawyer is willing to provide legal help for the alleged rebel group now in custody.

Responding to Fiji Sun’s query on the matter he said, “Yes, if they ask me to represent them, I will.”

He said lawyer Aman Ravindra Singh was presently representing them.

In an earlier inteview, Mr Karavaki had said he had been representing people from Nadroga and Navosa in court.

When his SODELPA MP colleague Viliame Gavoka was stopped from visiting the group in Lautoka last week, he called Mr Karavaki seeking his help to represent the group.

Meanwhile, Wainunu chief the Tui Wainunu, Ratu Orisi Baleitavea, has given his full support for the Police investigation. He said all those who were involved must face court action and justice must prevail at all times.

Ratu Orisi said there was also concern on the backing provided by Oni Kirwin from Australia who must be brought to justice.

“Police must investigate all people spreading rumours that could cause instability,” he said.

Ratu Orisi said with the strong leadership of the FijiFirst Government and the support of the security forces, there was no need to live in fear.
