As we look back to all those years of service with the Lord, we realise that the Lord has prepared us for this journey, says Deaconess Litia Veisa.

She made the comment during the Methodist Church annual conference at the Centenary Church yesterday after learning that her husband, Reverend Sekove Veisa of Nukuni, Ono-i-Lau, will be leaving next year for his new appointment in Nevada, USA.

The elated Deaconess Veisa, who hails from Wainiika Village, Cakaudrove, was singing praises on their new posting.

“For seventeen years of serving within the Suva area, we never dreamed that one day we would be up for an appointment abroad,” she said.

Mrs Veisa is Deaconess at the Methodist Training Centre in Samabula while her husband is Rev Veisa is a lecturer at the Theological College in Davuilevu.

“The Reverend is a lecturer and was also a hospital chaplain and had served in the Nabua Circuit for five years,” she said.

“This is our first appointment abroad and even though we have spent five years studying in Papua New Guinea; we believe that in those five years the Lord was preparing us for this journey; even long before we were born,” she said.

Mrs Veisa said she would help her husband abroad by helping with the Women’s fellowship as it would be a bigger place. “First we have to focus on finishing our duties in Bau and organise everything before the next minister comes next year to replace us,” she said.

“Nevada is a much bigger place and church members live far away from each other compared to the last two big circuits we have served here in Fiji.

“We believe that God has prepared us for this responsibility and he will also help us through it in the three years that we will be there to serve our people,” she said.
