Netball Fiji Excited

The Fiji Netball Association is expecting a tough competition during the finals of the Digicel/Punjas National Netball Championship at the National Netball Centre in Suva today.
With more than 40 teams competing in the annual competition yesterday Fiji Netball vice-president Vivian Koster said the turnout was a boost for the association.
“This year there has been an increase on the number of teams competing and this has really put up smiles on our faces looking at how much interest they have for netball.
“Competition this year is totally different from the one we run last year and the years before, we actually have teams from Taveuni and from Rakiraki making their way down here,” Koster said.
“It is surprising to see those teams like Lautoka nearly dominating in all grades; this shows how much preparation they have been doing,” she said.
Koster said the tournament was a great platform to develop the skills of young netters in Fiji.
“This is an area where netball skills is being uplifted and looking the way the girls performed they have really improved.
“We are also using this tournament to select our players to be part of the Fijian Peals so the competition is just not about wining it is a selection criterion as well.
The finals will be held today at the National Netball Centre.
