Twenty-seven-year old Charles Roneel Bhan charged with the murder of  a 70-year-old man earlier this month informed the High Court in Suva yesterday that he wanted to apply for Legal Aid assistance.

He appeared before High Court judge Justice Priyantha Fernando.

Bhan is a carpenter and has been remanded in custody for the alleged murder at Sakoca, Tacirua.

The High Court has advised Bhan to apply for legal aid before the next hearing on September 18.

The murder victim was found dead when his daughter returned from work on a Saturday afternoon and items were stolen from the house.

Police found blood on the man’s nose.

Bhan, meanwhile is further remanded until the next hearing.
