Army Green play Police Blues while Covenant Blues face Fresh’et Navy in the semifinals of the RC Manubhai  Escott Shield Premier competition this Saturday.

Army Green and defending champions Police Blues staged fightbacks to beat their opponents DHL Raiwaqa and National Fire Authority (NFA) in the quarterfinals at the ANZ Stadium in Suva last Saturday.

Army Green managed beat Raiwaqa 34-29 in sudden death after being locked 29-29 at fulltime

Police Blues on the other hand came back in the second-half to beat NFA 23-17.

At halftime, Police Blues was behind 10-14 before taking the lead late in the second-half to win.

Suva Rugby Union secretary Mitieli Waqa said the semifinals should be exciting.

“We have witnessed high levels of performance in the quarterfinals and we are proud of the teams.

“The semifinals will be tough as teams have equal chances of winning,”Waqa said.

Other results: Covenant Blues 32-21 Quality Print Marist, Navy 13-5, Nabua.

Meanwhile, all Suva rugby players are to attend training for the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge today and tomorrow at the FRU high performance Unit gym at 4:30pm.
