Fire broke out again at the Atlas Trading Warehouse in Ackland St in Vatuwaqa last Saturday night.

National Fire Authority chief John O’Connor said strong winds had caused the still smouldering tightly packed clothes bundles to flare up again and spread.

The warehouse had first suffered a fire last Wednesday and it took around 60 firefighters from Suva and Nasinu a whole day to bring the fire under control.

“The wind has been continuously fanning the fire and we were alerted by the security on watch at the warehouse,” Mr O’Connor said.

He said investigations on the cause of fire that completely destroyed the Warehouse last Wednesday were still continuing.

Our investigations team and the Police are at the scene and working on the cause of fire; which had broken out again since last Wednesday,” he said.
